Topics for exam in February

Hi kids!!!
Here are the specific topics you need to revise for your exam in February.

The exam will be similar to a PET exam, although we will not include the listening part this time. 

Possible topics to be included are those already discussed during this year: environment and environmental issues, communication, family, science and technology, holidays, among others.

Inspiring Openings: What our students say about the project

Our students from 1st year secondary share their expectations in regard to the collaborative writing project they have just started with students from a Dutch school. They reflect on it in Spanish, but the whole project is being carried out in English, second language for both groups of students.

Today we finally started our collaborative project with Dutch students from the Hermann Wesseling College in Amsterdam. We waited anxiously for the Hangout connection and, once ready, we were able to meet our writing partners. "Meet & Greet"... Netherlands!!!!

On June 19th we had an amazing experience: we shared a Mystery Hangout with students from a school in... Amsterdam!!! This time our group from 1st year Secondary school took part in this meeting.
We shared information about our countries, our languages, sports and even our favourite football fans song! We promised to get together again when the Dutch kids come back from their holidays. But seeing the kids enjoy this experience so much gave us a lot to think about... We had a chat with their teacher, Annelet, and... we will keep you posted!!!

El jueves 19 tuvimos la increíble experiencia de participar de un Mystery Hangout con alumnos de una escuela de... ¡¡Amsterdam!! Esta vez participaron del encuentro los chicos de 1er año de secundaria. 
Intercambiamos datos sobre nuestros países, idiomas, conocimientos de deportes y hasta cantitos de hinchada!!! Prometimos volver a encontrarnos cuando ellos regresen de sus vacaciones. Pero al ver tanto entusiasmo y alegría de parte de los dos grupos nos quedamos pensando cuántas puertas se nos abren con la tecnología... Lo conversamos con su maestra Annelet y... ¡vamos por más! Los mantendremos al tanto...

Conectados con el mundo...

Los alumnos de 1ro secundaria tuvieron un encuentro virtual via Skype con alumnos de una escuela secundaria de Chicago. La actividad consistía en que ambos grupos prepararan preguntas de distinta índole para que pudieran conocerse y encontrar diferencias y similitudes culturales. De esta manera, nuestros alumnos practicaron Inglés utilizando las estructuras vistas en clases, mientras que los alumnos de USA se enriquecieron aprendiendo sobre nuestra cultura ya que la materia que cursan es World Studies. Fue así como los chicos pudieron compartir información sobre sus gustos personales, sus ciudades, los deportes que practican, los artistas que admiran, entre otras cosas. Incluso tuvimos el placer de escuchar a una de nuestras alumnas y a una alumna de Chicago entonar sus canciones preferidas. Nos divertimos mucho!

 The students from 1st year Secondary School had a virtual meeting with students from a secondary school of Chicago. The activity consisted of both groups making questions of different kinds, so that they could get to know each other and find cultural differences and similarities. In this way, our students practised their English using the structures seen in class, while the students in the USA had the chance to learn about our culture, since the subject they are taking is World Studies. All in all, the kids could share information about their personal perferences, their cities, the sports they practise, the artists they admire, among others. We were even delighted to listen to one of our students and to a student form Chicago sing their favourite songs. We had a lot of fun! So, we want to read you all. What did you think about the experence? How did you feel about it? We'll be waiting for your comments!

Language. Reminder for mini test and book fair project!

Hi kids!!! This is just a reminder for our activities during this week.
-For Thursday 13th, you should send me your short stories my e-mail (the ones who didn't give it to me in paper).
-On Friday 14th, you're having the mini test on Unit 3 from the book. Remember to study countable and uncountable nouns, expressions of quantity and all the vocabulary. We'll revise and practise everything on Thursday!

Test reminder

Hi everybody!

Remember next Friday 26th, your are having the test on units 1 and 2. You need to study Simple Past and Past Continuous and Simple Present and Present Continuous. Also, the vocabulary from both units.

Tomorrow we'll be making some revision together, so bring your doubts! And, for those who already have access, start completing your workbook online. It will be good practice for your test.
